The Bunker
Single Player
Call of Duty Map
Stand-Alone Mission
On this level, I was solely responsible for
designing the environment, gameplay, and story. It was a
one person effort and needed to be completed in 5 days. The
scenario is set in a WW2 German bunker in which the player
(an Allied prisoner) is trying to break out. The player was
required to work through 4 rooms and escape up to a grassy
field. Gameplay was limited to only 3 minutes maximum and
no custom assets were to be used. Scripting and objectives
were not needed as well.
Design Goals:
I wanted to convey the
feeling of movement upward through the bunker to reach the
surface. Along the way, the player encounters soldiers that
block their path. By this method, the dramatic tension is
heightened.
As for challenges, the pace and
difficulty should increase as the player neared the
surface. Also, I wanted to vary the number and type of
enemies confronting the player to keep it from appearing
repetitive.
As for any level, there should be a story or
narrative in the details of the place. In this project, I
tried to give a purpose for each room that was logical to
its position in the map and to the time period.
